In Downtown Minneapolis the city experienced 14 millions of gushing water due to a busted sewer main! This 36 inch water main was laid in 1981, not uncommon for sewer pipes of Minneapolis to date this old, most of the cities cat-iron pipes were laid before the 1920s. A local contractor was installing a sewer line to link to the city’s sewer system during the construction of a retail development. The contractor bored through the line making the break 3ft in diameter and 6 ft in length. That following Friday and Monday two smaller main lines also broke, due to unrelated reasons.
